Meet Helen
Helen is 41 and works as an Admin Manager. She lives in Woking with her husband and two sons who go to boarding school. Throughout her adult life her weight has always fluctuated but found she was able to keep it off more easily in her younger days when working as cabin crew because she was always on the go.
At the moment her diet is bad through lack of motivation to cook something new. Most of her dishes are sauces out of jars or packets – she likes to cook for convenience and because her family like it!
Helen has a sweet tooth and biscuits are one of her favourite snacks. She usually has two or three biscuits like as cookies or bourbons at work and then, when she gets home from work she heads straight for the biscuit tin before dinner. She has a penchant for custard creams and bourbons and can polish off five or six before dinner.
Helen cooks pasta about twice a week and usually has it with tomato pre made sauces. Her main dish is pasta bake with tuna, chicken and cheese. She regularly cooks spaghetti bolognaise with mince and meatballs and occasionally cooks lasagne.
She cooks her own sausage casserole - with the cheapest sausages from the supermarket. Her husband and sons will only eat one brand, even though she always tries to get them to eat the ones with the highest meat content. She has this with packet sauce and mushrooms and onions.
Since she’s been in her 40’s, she’s found it harder to keep trim and she believes that the answer is not a radical diet, but changing what you do day to day. Helen has a bike and would like to get into cycling to work in a bid to burn off those calories.
